In term 1 we planted some "mystery seeds" in our garden. We didn't know what they were going to be. Last week some of our mystery seeds were ready for eating. Can you guess what these are?

During term 2 we have been lucky enough to take part in Kiwisport. This terms focus was softball. The children have been learning lots of skills they need to play softball including throwing, catching and batting. We had our first game this week and we saw some real talent! Check out our photos of us playing softball... Our Topic for Term 1 was exploring the competency "Thinking and Questioning". This required use to ask ourselves a lot of questions in order to engage in our learning. One of the concepts we explored was curiosity. We discovered that the more CURIOUS we were about something, the more we engaged in our learning. We decided that we would love to plant some plants in our garden boxes outside our classroom. We were very excited that we would be growing our own vegetables. There was a catch though...Miss Muir didn't tell us what vegetables we would be growing. We had 3 packets of seeds. Each table got some different seeds. Some were tiny and some were big. We had a milk bottle lid and some cotton wool. We put our mystery seeds onto the cotton wool and wet it. We had to keep watering them every day. We became REALLY curious and couldn't wait to see what happened to our seeds and to find out WHAT our seeds were! After our seeds germinated and had roots and shoots we planted them in some soil. We watched and waited to see what they would turn in to. Come and check out our plants at school. Can you figure out what our mystery seeds are? We still don't know... |
